BoMB – Band of Maniacal Brothers

The BoMB & Friends Spring LAN was a great success!

Over the weekend of April 27-28, 2018, the Band of Maniacal Brothers gaming clan hosted the BoMB & Friends Spring LAN 2018, and in this photo album, the results of the event can be seen! The proof is in the pudding (or in this case, screenshots of the score calculation spreadsheets)!

The original C&C in 1995 was the single game that got me into gaming. I was singularly obsessed with it. Now, decades later… after having run a gaming clan for 15+ years and having played just about every game you can think of… I was so sad to see the video The Rise and Fall of Command & Conquer.

Thanks very much to GVMERS for making it, but it brings a tear to my eye knowing just how many cancellations happened, and I really wish the developers (many studios that they were) had gotten the chance to work on a truly GREAT game until completion. I think my favorites from the series were the original C&C and Red Alert 2…

I am reviving the StarCraft II division!

Mostly I just wanna play Desert Strike, haha. I’m gonna start inviting people when they show me they can be cool for extended periods of time, and not be rageaholics. Meanwhilst, if you’re already a BoMB member, and you wanna play Desert Strike with me, hop on SCII with me, and let’s do it!

Desert Strike is a StarCraft II Custom Map in the Arcade section, which is a ton of fun for hours on end. Read the full post to learn more about the game!

After a long time of having not really been in the game,  I’m trying to get us back into something more organized, where people will be excited to join us and play with us, and we get more of  sense of being a legitimate gaming clan or team instead of just a group of friends who play games together sometimes. With this kind of branding, it will also be far easier to acquire sponsors for our LAN events, and will probably make us more likely to have LAN events as well, honestly.

Anyway, it’s good to be back, and the site has been updated with a more flexible responsive layout (mobile coming eventually… right now I’m still working on building out the feature set of the desktop site!), as well as incorporating a Wordpress installation to make authoring and editing posts seamless for multiple users, and requiring no FTP access or coding knowledge. So yay for that! 🙂

The weekend of October 26th-28th saw BMB attend their first major LAN event, Sacramento Intel LANFest 2012. The crew competed and played multiple games including Counter-Strike: Global Offensive and StarCraft II: Wings of Liberty. The LAN started up Friday night seeing BMB warming up and scrimming in CS:GO. Saturday is when the real action begin. Justin “NeMustang” Yaeger organized a StarCraft 2 competition for the entire LAN to participate in. Five Members of BMB competed with James “Venom” Weaver being the sole member to make it out of the first round. James went 2-1 posting a respectable result in the single elimination tournament. Next up was CS:GO, all 7 attending BMB member participated in various teams.
